Check out this list and find the perfect spot to refuel and relax before or after a day enjoying famous Alberni Valley outdoors and recreational activities. Each shop is unique with it’s own vibe, these spaces are great for meeting up with friends, spending time in self-reflecting solitude or popping in for a quick get “caffeinated”, be rest assured Alberni Valley has some really good coffee spots. Riverbend Café & General Store

Full of charm and character the Riverbend Cafe & General Store is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends sipping on a perfect flat-white or snacking on a delectable treat from Wildwood Bakeshop (also on our Port Alberni Coffee Shop list!). Be sure to take a stroll through the shop and check out all of the unique products, many of which are made locally by Vancouver Island Artisans.

“We stopped here on our way to Tofino. Beautiful selection of local gifts, books and art greet you when you walk in. The building is welcoming and clean, with a lovely and accessible washroom. Best of all, my flat white was absolute perfection. There is a nice patio area in the back as well.”

SteamPunk Café & Coffee House

Looking for fun in a Port Alberni Coffee Shop?  In the mood for some retro-futuristic fun? SteamPunk Café & Coffee House’s décor is inspired by it’s namesake and features some pretty unique, industrial finishes. This is a fantastic spot to stop in and quietly read a book or play a board game with some friends. Offers a full menu as well as an extensive drink list.

“So lovely to come into a coffee shop which has real food & very good coffee (including Flat White). Also so nice to not be given coffee in a disposable cup when having it in store. Look at the beautiful mug it was served in! Beautiful cozy décor, with lounges, board games & books to read. Well done creating a welcoming atmosphere.”

Burde Beans Coffee & Things

Proudly featuring locally roasted coffee by our own Misty Ridge Coffee the quirky and absolutely delightful Burde Beans Coffee & Things is always enjoyable. This Port Alberni coffee shop is a lively place and best to visit with some friends or come alone and join in with some of the regulars. With a tasty menu of snacks and treats, an exciting coffee menu featuring drinks like the “Bullet Proof” or the “After Eight” and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, what more could you ask for?

“We stopped in while passing through town. The owners/staff could not have been more welcoming and nice to talk to. We got help navigating their unique coffee menu. The ambiance within the shop made us want to stay, but we had a ferry to catch. Would definitely recommend!”

Ironworks Café & Crêperie

Coffee and Crêpes, need we say more? You could opt to just enjoy a coffee from their extensive menu featuring freshly roasted Italian coffee, but you would definitely be missing out on one of the best crêpes in town. Depending on your mood, choose from sweet and savoury options (we’ll take it all).

“First time visiting Alberni. Was looking for a snack and a coffee. Well this was hands down the best crepe I have had in years. Normally they are little hand held in a cone crepe but this was a legit fork and knife deep dive crepe. Had an Americano super smooth coffee. Will be coming back for sure.”

Wildflower Bakeshop & Café

Our list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Wildflower Bakeshop & Café, one of our favourite Port Alberni Coffee Shops. Offering an amazing brunch menu, freshly made baked goods and a delightful coffee menu, the owners of Wildflower are dedicated to bringing “an ambience of relaxed excellence through a balance of refined technical service paired with gracious hospitality and soulful cooking” – we couldn’t agree more.

“Great coffee, food, and patio. We stopped in for breakfast on a sunny November morning and got to take advantage of the beautiful patio and garden. The drip coffee and latte were both excellent. The overnight oats were delicious with a great variety and quantity of fruits and flavours. My partner had the brisket biscuit, minus the brisket. Staff were wonderful at helping build a veggie breakfast sandwich since that’s what he was craving.”
