West Coast Waterfall Hikes from Easy to Moderate
The beautiful Alberni Valley is home to some of the most wonderful waterfalls on Vancouver Island. If you enjoy hiking or walks in the forest, what better reward for your effort than a picturesque waterfall at the end of the trail! We have gathered some favourite local waterfall hikes ranging from easy to moderate hiking effort. Try one or all, and share your adventure photos with the #exploreportalberni!
Hole in the Wall Falls
This remarkable Port Alberni landmark is a short, easy hike that is suitable for kids and dog friendly. Trail access is across the road from Coombs Country Candy store (bonus!) and the trek to the Hole in Wall viewpoint takes about 15 minutes walking on a well-marked trail.
China Creek Falls
A 2.7km (in and out), moderately challenging hike, the trail that leads you there is a beautiful forest walk that ends at the rushing falls.
Only 1.3km (in and out) of well groomed, easy trail walking along the Stamp River will take you to the roaring falls.
A 3.9km (in and out) waterfall hike. Although the longest route of all 4, the hike up to the falls is not difficult and the view of the falls are well worth the effort!
