Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect returns Saturday, June 21, 2025, for a heartwarming community event hosted by the Alberni Valley Hospice Society and Ty Watson House.

Held outdoors at the AVHS Community Office, this annual event offers families and individuals the chance to release a butterfly in memory of a loved one—or simply to celebrate life. The afternoon includes free children’s activities, face painting, a BBQ by donation, and other family-friendly fun.

? Butterfly pickup begins at 12:15 PM
? Release happens at 12:30 PM (no butterflies held afterward)

Butterflies are $25 each and come in individual release boxes (Painted Lady species). A limited number of no-cost butterflies are available to community members thanks to support from Jim’s Clothes Closet.
