Thunder in the Valley Drag Races

After a six-year hiatus, Thunder in the Valley is back! From August 8–10, 2025, head to the Somass Lands in Port Alberni for a high-octane weekend of drag racing, burnout contests, a car show, and more. This special edition marks the return of a beloved local tradition—and the launch of a bold new vision for motorsports in the Alberni Valley.

Hosted by the Alberni Valley Drag Racing Association (AVDRA), this year’s event is more than a comeback—it’s a fundraiser to help build a permanent year-round racing and multiplex facility right here in the valley. Your support will help shape the future of motorsport, community events, and recreation in the region.
