Port Alberni Salmon Derby and Festival

Celebrating 50+ Years!

Port Alberni’s Annual Salmon Derby (with $10,000 worth of prizes!) is heading back to where it all began for its 2022 event. After 50 years of being held in various locations, the 2022 Salmon Derby will be held at the Alberni Valley Tyee Club & Fisherman, home to its very first derby, back in 1939.

The Tyee Salmon Derby returns every September and promises to be a fun filled event with daily cash prizes and plenty of… fishing! The derby will still have the daily cash prizes along with the daily hidden draws and a bonus for the largest salmon caught. Aside from fishing this family friendly event will also includes Opening Fireworks (presented by the Sugar Shack), Karaoke, Live Music, Traditional Salmon Dinner and even Fish Painting!
