What started with 8 guys delivering a few toys to the Salvation Army on their bikes, just before Christmas, in 1984, now attracts upwards of 1500 motorcycles to Port Alberni, on the third weekend of September each year.
Cheer on the many motorcyclists as they travel in solid formation through the Alberni Valley on the Toy Run, delivering a massive haul of toys for children in the community—where child poverty is among the highest in British Columbia.
Gather at Little Qualicum Fall Provincial Park starting at 10 am Saturday. Cannon goes off at noon and 1000+ bikes ride into Port Alberni to the Glenwood Centre for bike games, show&shine, vendors, kids games, and beer garden. Riders are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy or donate money.
Saturday night dance features Johnny Inappropriate and the Maloomba boogie band with tickets on sale first to riders at Little Qualicum Falls, and then to the general public at 1 PM at Glenwood Center.
Tickets are $25 each.
Sunday there’s a pancake breakfast followed by a poker run through the Alberni valley back to Glenwood Centre for Beer garden raffles and auction.
